Genetically Modified Organisms and The World According to Monsanto

Have you heard about Genetically Modified Organisms and The World According to Monsanto?   Genetically Modified Organisms are crops that have been genetically modified or engineered. There are four major crops that have been genetically modified by highly influential biotechnology corporations such as Monsanto. Biotechnologists have been able to insert a gene into the seeds of four major crops (soybeans, cotton, canola, and corn) so that when these organisms are sprayed with herbicides they are protected from birds, insects, worms, and other wildlife. Meaning, since these crops have been modified or genetically engineered, they are supposedly unharmed after being sprayed and soaked in herbicides. However, birds, insects, worms, and wildlife that eat these genetically engineered crops that are soaked in herbicides have been known to die or seriously harmed. About 70% of  food that humans consume worldwide, processed and unprocessed are  genetically modified.  Late in the 1990s. the United States Food and Drug Administration approved GMOs for the general public to consume because according to them, Genetically Modified Organisms are Generally Recognized As Safe. The scientists interviewed in the documentary called The World According to Monsanto  have concluded that agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration have disregarded their claims that there is not enough sufficient research to conclude that GMOs are safe for humans to consume. In fact, findings from research already performed have concluded that GMOS and the use of herbicides are harmful to the health of humans and wildlife.  In the documentary The World According to Monsanto, a scientist concluded that GMO potatoes that were fed to mice induced the proliferation of precancerous cells and were harmful to the guts of these animals. The World According to Monsanto is a very powerful and informative documentary.  Every person should watch The World According to Monsanto, especially by anyone who cares about their health and well-being and that of their children.

Below are the conclusions of author and filmmaker Jeffrey Smith,

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are the result of laboratory processes which artificially insert foreign genes into the DNA of food crops or animals. Those genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans. Although banned by food manufacturers in Europe and elsewhere, the FDA does not require any safety evaluations. Most Americans say they would not eat GMOs if labeled, but the U.S. does not require labeling. GMOs are not safe, but have been in the food supply since 1996 and are now present in the vast majority of processed foods in the US.
